met gala 2019.

well, it is that time of the year again! once a year, the "hottest of the hot" celebrities step out onto the steps of the Met for the most fashionable night ever. the glamorous charity event is put on by the queen herself, anna wintour. all the celebs come together blowing the crowd away with dazzling, high-fashion outfits that match the theme of the year.

this year, the theme is camp. the term derives from an essay written by writer Susan Sontag, "Notes on Camp." personally, i interpret the theme as over the top, almost humorous outfits, with extra flamboyancy. people shouldn't be afraid to take a risk.

that being said, i chose five of my favorite looks from the night.

1.) harry styles

all of my fangirling biases aside, i truly believe harry stole the show with this gucci designed look. i just love how everyone expected him to wear bright, gaudy colors, with a large, over-the-top ensemble... and he knew this... so of course he had to do the opposite. i love the feminine aspects ranging from the lace, pussy bow, earring, nails, and heels... but at the same time the mesh showing the tattoos underneath adds a layer of masculinity. overall, i am just so obsessed and blown away by this look. most likely won't be over this for a very long time.

2.) ezra miller

ezra is one of the kings of met gala fashion. and of course, the camp theme is perfect for his eclectic style. i just am obsessed with the creative, feminine outfit and the makeup.... literally i want all the details. who was able to create those eyes and make them look so realistic? i just love the whimsical aspects of this whole ensemble.

3.) josephine skriver

i feel like this look was very underrated, and didn't get the attention it deserved. victoria's secret angel josephine skriver was able to portray the theme perfectly with a gaudy floral dress and matching headpiece. her makeup really tied the whole look together.

i think everything about the outfit head to toe, was completely beautiful.

4.) kylie and kendall jenner

every year, all of the kardashian-jenners tend to have some issues following the theme, causing them to receive some hate in the past. but this year, kylie and kendall emerged together like the powerhouse, boss-babes that they have grown to become. i love their looks together and apart, and i think the bright colors and feathery, flamboyant outfits totally fit the camp theme.

5.) lupita nyong'o

literally every time i see a picture of lupita, she is flawless. i mean the neon colors on her dark skin, with the texture of the dress... it is just breathtaking. i love the makeup, the combs in her updo... it all just flows in a very camp-esque manner.

honorable mentions: lady gaga, kacey musgraves, dakota johnson, ciara, saoirse ronan.

overall, i was completely impressed by most of the met gala attendees this year. i loved this theme, as it let people just straight up have fun. let me know in the comments what you think of these looks, and who was your favorite!
